- Most leather is sturdy but it’s best not to store items near extreme heat (e.g. ventilators). This can dry and crack the fabric.
- If recommended, use a leather conditioner to keep items supple and clean.
- Store in a breathable bag to allow air to circulate. This reduces the opportunity for mold and mildew to form (particularly during off-season storage).
- If recommended, use a spray guard on the leather before wear. This will help to protect it against water marks, stains and dirt.
- If the leather gets wet, wipe water away and air dry in room temperature setting (not extreme heat or cold).
- Just as leather shoes stretch, so do leather garments. Use appropriate hangers that can support the weight and shape of the garment. Do not hang leather garments on pegs or hooks that can cause them to become misshapen.
