In the age of COVID 19, many of us are opting for the safety and convenience of shopping for clothes online. The questions become: How many times have these clothing items been tried on? Is there remaining bacteria from a previous try on? Unless the item is fresh from the package, there is no way to guarantee their cleanliness.
Here are some safety measures you can put in place when trying on an online purchase at home.
- Handle packages with caution. This means safely disposing of wrappers and other box materials. Then washing hands according to health guidelines.
- Wear body shapers underneath the outfit. This will have the double benefit of providing a layer of protection between the fabric and your skin. Plus, give a more streamlined look to the outfit.
- Clean hands and face before try on. Make sure that your face is free of makeup and hands are washed to keep the garment as safe and clean as possible. This is also a wonderful consideration for the next person who may try the garment, if returned.
- Use a face guard if garments are pulled over the head. This will act as a barrier to minimize the transfer of germs and bacteria to and from the face.
